Summer Lunch for the Eleonore Trefftz Visiting Women Professors and Dresden Fellows with the Rector
On 25 July 2019, the current Eleonore Trefftz Visiting Women Professors and Dresden Fellows as well as their respective Host Professors of TU Dresden came together for a festive Summer Lunch at Dresden Integrated Center for Applied Physics and Photonic Materials (IAPP). The Rector, Prof. Hans Müller-Steinhagen, cordially welcomed the guests and announced a continuation of the programmes. In an inspiring keynote, Prof. Anita Behme, Chair of Applied Stochastics, talked about her visiting professorship as one of the first professors (2013-2014) in the Trefftz Programme and her career path up to her appointment to TU Dresden in 2016. Next, the Dresden Fellows and Trefftz Professors gave short presentations introducing themselves and their research, using the subsequent reception to network with each other.
The Summer Lunch was organized by Johanna Wolter, coordinator of the Eleonore Trefftz Visiting Women Professors Programme (Staff Unit Diversity Management), and Kathrin Tittel, coordinator of the Dresden Fellowship Programme (Institutional Strategy). The Eleonore Trefftz Visiting Women Professors Programme has enabled excellent female scientists to spend up to one year teaching and researching at TU Dresden with the aim to promote careers for women on their path to a professorship. The Dresden Fellowship Programme has intensified collaborations and initiated long-term projects by strategically inviting mostly international scientists.
Both programmes have been financed by funds from the Institutional Strategy within the framework of the Excellence Initiative of the Federal and State Governments since 2013.
