Am I good enough for academia? Workshop for first-time graduates
What does my social background have to do with my PhD?
Social background plays an important role in the German higher education system and also has an influence on the decision in favour of or against a doctorate. Added to this are family expectations, lack of experience and role models. Often, however, we are not even aware of these contexts and connections, but rather they have a hidden and unconscious effect.
This workshop deals with the reflection of the self-image as a researcher and the mediated image of researchers. Who has which privileges and what role does my background play? Participants will develop a competence profile and strategies for a self-confident path in science.
