Diversity TU goDiversity TU go: Origin shapes - always...
Social background often plays a greater role in academia than it appears at first glance. Although universities see themselves as open and equal-opportunity places, in practice it is clear that educational paths are not equally accessible to all. Academic careers are often characterised by unwritten rules and expectations, which pose a challenge for first-time academics in particular.
- How is it that most teachers come from an academic background?
- What (implicit) rules apply on campus?
- How does social background influence academic careers?
- What measures can bring about more educational equity in academic and university culture in the long term?
The second workshop in our ‘Diversity TU go’ series is dedicated to these questions. Together, we will discuss existing obstacles and possible solutions.
