Diversity TU goDiversity to Go: A good plan is the first step towards equal parental leave.
Equal parental leave starts with a good plan - and sound knowledge.
The decision to have a child has a major impact on the financial situation of mothers. Almost all gender gaps widen when a couple become parents. For example, the gender pay gap increases from 9% from the age of 30 - women become mothers at an average age of 30.3 - to up to 28%. The lifetime earned income of mothers is 61% lower than that of non-mothers or men. With an average income, we are talking about a loss of around half a million euros in salary due to the decision to become a mother. All this leads to financial dependency for mothers, and also for fathers (who often bear the ‘financial load’ of the family largely alone), and above all to above-average numbers of women in poverty in old age.
Marielle and Michael Schäfer from Beziehungsinvestor*innen will therefore talk about this in their presentation:
- How parental leave decisions affect salary, pension and family time
- Why parenthood can cost women up to half a million euros over the course of their lives
- What alternatives there are to the classic breadwinner-housewife model
- How equal parental leave can be planned in concrete terms
- What 5 steps are needed for equal parental leave planning
- For whom? The lecture is for anyone interested in equal family models, parents-to-be or people who want to have children.
