Women@DDc: Professorship Track: Know the Rules of the Game
At some point in your academic career, you may find yourself asking an important question: Could a professorship be part of my future career path? Before making decisions about your long-term career in academia, it is helpful to understand both the formal requirements and the unwritten rules that shape professorial appointments at German universities.
This workshop provides insights into appointment procedures, application strategies, and the expectations candidates face throughout the process. Participants will explore the content and style of application documents (please bring a draft of your CV), as well as typical elements of appointment procedures, including the scientific talk, the demonstration lesson, and the interview with the appointment committee.
The workshop will also cover negotiations for professorial positions, including topics such as resources, facilities, and salary.
This workshop is aimed at female scientists at different career stages – from PhD candidates and postdoctoral researchers to group leaders – who are interested in learning more about academic career paths and the route to a professorship.
