TUD Lecture "Forecasts, Explanations, Basis for Decision-Making - What Epidemic Models Really (Can) Tell Us".
Since the beginning of the Corona pandemic, political decisions with far-reaching social consequences have been based, among other things, on predictions from mathematical models. The 2nd lecture in the TUD Lecture series on the Corona pandemic aims to provide insights into the world of these models, which is rather unknown to the public, and is entitled "Predictions, Explanations, Basis for Decisions - What Epidemic Models (Can) Really Tell Us". On June 10, 2021 at 6:30 pm, two professors from TU Dresden will address questions such as: What are mathematical models? What interpretations do they allow? To what extent can and should one trust predictions? What are the strengths of models, what are their limitations?
The speakers of the event are Prof. Andreas Deutsch, Center for Information Services and High Performance Computing at the TU Dresden, and Prof. Ingo Röder, Professor of Medical Statistics and Biometry at the Medical Faculty Carl Gustav Carus of the TU Dresden.
The event will take place virtually. All interested parties are welcome to participate.
