Is music the food of love? The current edition of the “Sound & Science” series explores this exciting question, which is entirely in keeping with this year's motto “LOVE”, and embarks on an interesting scientific-musical search for clues. The focus is on the so-called “cuddle hormone” oxytocin, which is released through hugs and kisses, among other things. This is a true all-rounder with the ability to strengthen the immune system and reduce stress, anxiety and even pain. Due to its many positive effects on the body, oxytocin is sometimes even referred to as a “miracle hormone”. How and whether the body releases the love hormone when making and listening to music together will be explored live on this evening.
