Finissage with artist talk: Tatjana Doll – TOUR-ISMUS
An exhibition of the TU Dresden, Chair of Urban Development and the Leibniz Institute of Ecological Urban and Regional Development
As part of the cross-over series “Art and Architecture”, the multi award-winning Berlin artist Tatjana Doll will transform the Zentrum für Baukultur into a gallery featuring her large-format pictorial motifs that explore the urban context and everyday life in the city. An important aspect of Tatjana Doll’s work is her scrutiny of the socio-political contexts of diverse subjects. In her paintings of various public objects, she poses the question of how much space we are actually willing to accord these things. City maps, aerial photos, floor plans, containers, petrol station signs, cars, often presented at full life-size, highlight the rich variety of these (partly) mundane things and the significance they play in our everyday lives in urban space. By highlighting this aspect of Tatjana Doll’s work, the exhibition aims to spotlight the interplay of the urban context, of scale and space in the city. The Zentrum für Baukultur in the Kulturpalast Dresden is an ideal venue for this cross-over exhibition between art and architecture.
