Volunteering at the TUD
What contribution can a university make to strengthening volunteering?
Universities have a societal responsibility. As the largest employer in Dresden, the TUD has a special responsibility for the city of Dresden and the state of Saxony. It sees itself as a civic stakeholder that raises awareness and motivates its students and employees for the university's societal responsibility through various community engagement projects.
TUD is committed
Each TUD team has one day per year for community activities (project day). To make it easier for TUD teams to use this day for charitable purposes, the "TUD engagiert" project was launched in fall 2023. The volunteer agency ehrensache.jetzt of the Bürgerstiftung Dresden and Directorate 9 University Culture organize volunteer placements at non-profit initiatives for interested TUD teams.
The volunteer assignments can be very different. For example, it is possible to help with nature conservation projects, help renovate social projects, help sort donations, collect garbage on the Elbe meadows and support charitable projects with the team's skills.
TUD employees who would like to volunteer together with their colleagues on their project day can find more information on the TUD intranet (with ZIH login).
