USE OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN HIGHER EDUCATION: CLOUD COMPUTING, DATA MANAGEMENT AND HIGH-PERFORMANCE COMPUTING
Date: Thursday, 15 October 2020, 13:00 - 15:00 (CEST)
The topics of artificial intelligence, data analysis and simulation are becoming increasingly important in many degree programs. In order to make such contents (tangible) in teaching and to convey them in a practical way, it is advantageous if students work with concrete examples themselves or develop their own application scenarios. However, a major hurdle is the availability and configuration of the necessary software environments and hardware resources.
In this course, special IT services of the ZIH are presented in order to overcome these technical hurdles with as little effort as possible. The concepts presented are typically well scalable and can also be applied in courses with several hundred participants.
The following aspects will be considered in the continuing education course:
1) Software environment within a cloud: Such a software environment is uniform for all users and is set up once.
2) Data management: By using a shared storage, all necessary information (e.g. source codes, sample data) can be provided and maintained centrally. It is also possible to connect to version management systems (e.g. Git).
3) High performance computing: Depending on the requirements, various high-performance hardware can be made available for the sessions, which can differ in computing power (GPU/CPU, number of computing nodes) and available main memory.
4) Access requirements: Depending on the institutional affiliation, there are certain requirements for the application of logins.
The event language will be German. All papers and documentation will be provided in English.
