StuFoExpo 2019
StuFoExpo 2019 review
The StuFoExpo celebrated student research for the second time in 2019. Support from Studentenstiftung Dresden provided twelve dedicated students with the opportunity to present their own research projects in a broad range of disciplines (book of abstracts). The Dülfersaal Ballroom hosted an audience of about 100 intrigued guests from a range of disciplines.
Henriette Greulich from the Center for Interdisciplinary Learning and Teaching held the evening’s welcome speech. Dr. Michael Thompson (DyNAbind), a former TUD PhD student, shared in his invigorating keynote address how his own student research helped him to found his start-up company. Then, the stage was handed over to the students to present their research from across all of TU Dresden’s Schools. In just 90 seconds, they creatively pitched their projects to the audience. The subsequent poster session provided a platform for lively discussion about the advantages and future potential of student research at TU Dresden.
To close out the evening, the jury of five university lecturers awarded €250 each to Julia Reeder (Faculty of Psychology), Vahid Farhikhteh Asl (Faculty of Environmental Sciences) and Lukas Körber (Faculty of Physics) for presenting the three best projects. Jenny Kretzschmar (Center for Molecular and Cellular Bioengineering) took home the additional audience prize, also worth €250.
The prize money was sponsored by TU Dresden’s School of Science and Scientists into Business. Novaled GmbH financed the refreshments for the participants and guests. The 2019 StuFoExpo organizational team would like to thank all the sponsors and volunteers. Special thanks also goes out to Dr. Nambirajan Govindarajan (Center for Molecular and Cellular Bioengineering) for moderating the event.
