What is Schullogin?
Digital media are essential for everyday school life today. For example, video conferencing solutions can digitally replicate classroom interactions or cloud solutions can be used to distribute worksheets or educational videos to pupils.
However, the wide range of digital media currently in use brings with it certain obstacles. For example:
- individual accounts must be set up with the providers of these services for all pupils, trainee teachers and teachers.
- Contextual conditions of use, such as data security, must be checked individually for each service, especially for pupils.
- costs incurred for using the individual services are checked and consent to the terms of use of the individual digital media is requested from those involved.
- clarify how to deal with the whereabouts of their own media or data, for example if they change schools.
Schullogin has set itself the task of tackling these problems and solving them in the long term for digital learning in Saxon schools:
- Through Schullogin, it is already possible to use various digital, education-related services (e.g. file storage, video conferencing, learning platforms) with a single account. From a technical perspective, solutions that enable this type of authentication are referred to as single sign-on.
- All connected services and applications are checked in terms of data protection. Schullogin itself only uses a minimum of so-called master data from the central school administration software SaxSVS to authenticate pupils, trainee teachers and teaching staff. This consists of first name, surname, master institution (office key), role (student/teacher/trainee teacher) and the student's grade level and class.
- Schullogin and all connected services are checked for data protection, require no consent and are free of charge.
- Schullogin is an identity management system (IDM system). Therefore, changes of school, name (e.g. marriage or adoption) or role (e.g. from trainee teacher to teacher) are taken into account.
Schullogin is offered for the following target groups at schools in Saxony:
- Pupils
- Trainee teachers
- Teachers
- External staff at schools (e.g. school assistants, secretaries, school social workers)
Important: Independent schools do not currently use the required SaxSVS school administration software. This means that the automatic comparison of personal data is not possible. If you are interested in using Schullogin, please contact the support team at .
