50 participants at the 6th teacher training day on mathematics teaching at Saxon universities
The Chair of Didactics of Mathematics at TU Dresden and the Chair of Didactics of Mathematics at Leipzig University jointly organized the 6th Teacher Training Day as part of the "German Probability and Statistics Days" 2025 conference.
The day was aimed at mathematics teachers and trainee teachers at vocational schools and grammar schools. The event was also open to student teachers. The program consisted of two main lectures and two workshop blocks with three parallel workshops of 90 minutes each.
On Friday morning, around 50 teachers and around 40 conference participants gathered in the lecture hall of the Potthoff Building for the opening lecture by Prof. Dr. Thomas Skill (Bochum University of Applied Sciences) on the topic of "(Applied) Statistics - what is it?". After a short break, there was a further lecture on the topic of "Evaluative statistics - how can it be implemented in secondary school II on the basis of a reflective theory in a meaningful and practical way?" by Reimund Vehling (retired student seminar in Hanover).
Overall, the training day offered a wide range of mathematical and didactic suggestions and in-depth information for mathematics teachers and interested parties as well as the opportunity to network and exchange ideas.
