1.8.2014: New professorship for Prof. Manuel Bodirsky
After agreeing to the call to the TU Dresden, Prof. Manuel Bodirsky holds the professorship for algebra in our institute from August, 1, 2014. His research field are Constraint Satisfaction Problems (CSPs). In particular, his interest is focussed on complexity issues and the extension of the theory to infinite domains.
We hope that his scientific horizon will fruitfully enrich our research activities. We look forward for an exciting cooperation.

15.7.2014: Successful postdoctoral lecture qualification
Dr. Sebastian Kerkhoff from the institute of algebra successfully habilitatde at the 15 July, 2014. The thesis is entitled "Duality theory and algebraic structures". Duality theory allows to solve problems arising in different mathematical fileds by category theoretical generalisation.
We cordially congratulate him.

summer school on Methodology of task design
In a cooperation between the professorship of the psychology of teaching and learning and the institute of algebra, a summer school on the "Methodology of task design How to construct exercises for learning" is taking place in September 2014.
The aim is to efficiently support the learning process in an arbitrary field by an adapted selection of suitable exercises. Graduates cann apply for attending the summer school here.

1.5.2014: new junior professorship "topological algebra"
Dr. Martin Schneider fills the position of the newly introduced junior professorship "topological algebra" at our institute. His research focusses on duality theory and topological groups and topological dynamics.
We are pleased that we could gain this outstanding mathematician for our institute and look forward for the fruitful and very exciting cooperation.

international conference at the institute of algebra
The institute of algebra hosted the 11. international conference on formal concept analysis (ICFCA13), taking place from May 21.24., 2013, in the WillersBau.

Dr.WalterSeippAward 2012
We are excited about Martin Schneider rewarded the Dr.WalterSeippaward 2012 founded by the Commerzbank and endowed with 4000€. The prize acknowledges his outstanding PhD theses written at record speed in out institute under the supervision of professor Reinhard Pöschel. The award ceremony took place on March 27, 2013 in the rectorate.

Lehrpreis 2011
Institut für Algebra is the proud winner of Lehrpreis 2011. Thank you very much Gesellschaft von Freunden Förderern der TU Dresden e. V. !
