Institute of Landscape Architecture
As a rule, a total of around 300 students are enrolled on the Landscape Architecture degree program; around 55 students per year begin their studies in the winter semester.
The Bachelor's degree program teaches basic scientific and planning knowledge and skills. It also serves as an orientation and helps to review study decisions and to facilitate the choice of specializations in the Master's program. The Bachelor of Science degree qualifies students to work scientifically, to make targeted decisions about work and solution approaches and to work in (interdisciplinary) teams. It forms the prerequisite for continuing university education in a Master's degree program.
TheMaster's degree program prepares students for work as an independent landscape architect, for work in research and development and for a leadership position in the management and administration of public and private open spaces. In the Master's degree course, the knowledge and skills acquired are expanded and individually deepened and scientific, technical and design principles are applied to landscape and open space planning tasks.
An essential element of landscape architecture training in Dresden is project work, which is completed in both the Bachelor's and Master's degree programs.
The landscape architecture course at TU Dresden is characterized by
- intensive supervision of the students
- a non-overlapping course of study that enables short study times
- a wide range of scientific and artistic subjects
- individual specialization through in-depth projects and compulsory elective modules
- the opportunity to work on joint projects/designs with architecture students
