Calculation of remuneration claims from wage and material price escalation clauses
On July 7, 2022, a practical seminar with Prof. Dr.-Ing. Dipl.-Wirt.-Ing. Jens Otto on the index- and cost-based calculation of the remuneration claim from wage and material price escalation clauses took place at the Institute for Construction Management as part of the Forum Construction and Real Estate. The seminar was aimed at planners, contractors and clients who come into contact with the subject of price escalation clauses on a daily basis. The high number of participants confirmed the importance of this topic even more.
The content of the seminar included a summary of developments in wage and material prices, an explanation of the current fundamentals of the framework conditions for the application of price escalation clauses specified by the legislator, a description of the statistical background and the usefulness of the indices of the Federal Statistical Office (www.destatis.de) in terms of content, and the mathematical application of wage and material price escalation clauses in accordance with VHB. As a further example, an alternative calculation model for private builders was also presented, which can provide more transparency in the future when determining the compensation for material price increases.
