ConDIT assembled
In the ongoing project «Adaptive Concrete Diamond Construction (ACDC)», which is a part of SPP2187 "Adaptive modularized constructions made in flux", sponsored by the Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft (DFG) the first demonstrator, named ConDIT, was completed.
ConDIT (Concrete Deltoidal IcosiTetrahedron) is a 3-dimensional structure, that consisted of frame modules, where all modules were produced automated by using the 3D printing technology. To reached the needed mechanical performance of the material Printable Strain Hardening Cementitious Composite (SHCC), reinforced with sort polymer fibers, was used as a construction material. The demonstrator shows the possibilities of automated production in the construction industry of complex geometries with quantities greater than or equal to 1 at constantly low unit costs, since no formwork is required at all.
The work is a Tandem project from 2 groups at the TU Dresden, the Workgroup for Geometric Modelling and Visualisation and from our Institute.
