BHYWI64 - Fundamentals of structural engineering
The individual planning phases as well as the basics of representation in construction drawings for building structures are explained and the essential construction elements of a building in different construction phases are presented. The students have knowledge about the formation of building foundations and walls as well as the possibilities of carrying out sealing and thermal insulation measures. They can develop new building constructions as well as construction details of new buildings and represent them in drawings (CAD and hand drawings). They know the basic properties and structural characteristics of building materials, taking into account the effects of time, temperature and moisture, and have detailed knowledge of the properties of organic and inorganic as well as metallic and non-metallic building materials. The students understand the decisive mechanisms in the connection of building materials to each other as well as in building material composites and are able to derive measures to improve the durability of building materials.
