SPP2005 - Grand Finale
Due to the complex characteristics of concrete, the understanding of its fresh properties (rheology) is challenging, therefore limited. This restricts concrete’s full potential implementation in the construction industry. Therefore, the DFG-funded special priority program SPP 2005 "Opus Fluidum Futurum – Rheology of reactive, multiscale, multiphase construction materials” established a scientific framework to comprehensively study the fundamentals governing concrete’s rheology (link to website).
The consortium of over 50 scientists from 15 universities and research institutions have joined forces and committed to synergistic research aimed to achieve a comprehensive knowledge on concrete’s rheology. This study has facilitated the resolution of associated technical challenges with concrete and has fostered the development of innovative rheology-sensitive construction techniques, such as concrete 3D printing. Furthermore, the program delves into the rheology of sustainable alternatives to traditional concrete, incorporating Limestone Calcined Clay Cement (LC3) as binders and utilizing recycled aggregates.
The results from over 6 years of research, along with practical solutions, will be presented at our Grand Final event on June 3rd, 2024, from 12:00 to 18:00, and June 4th, 2024, from 09:00 to 15:00 at TU Dresden. A detailed program will be updated on this website soon.
