Dual Degree
Double is better
It goes without saying and doesn’t really need further explanation: a dual degree – in other words, a
qualification in two countries – makes it easier to enter the profession and promotes your career. The international networking of science and industry means that there is increasing demand for foreign languages and intercultural competencies. To meet this challenge, European universities have developed exchange programmes that lead to two diplomas. Here, coordination of courses between Germany and France is made possible by the Franco-German
University – specifically created for this purpose – and its member universities. It supports the foreign studies with a monthly mobility allowance. The basic idea is this. The students complete their studies at the
TU Dresden, and switch to the partner university in the fifth semester. The overseas component lasts three semesters, and delivers subject-specific and linguistic expertise as well as insights into the life, culture and history of the host country. After the overseas component, the students switch to their specialisation modules in Dresden. The Dresden civil engineering faculty cooperates with INSA Strasbourg, ESTP Paris and the University of Trento in Italy.
Naturally, good language skills are indispensable for this. Our specialist language centre offers free language courses, and our partner universities
organise inexpensive summer schools during the
semester break. The dual degree doesn’t make the study period longer. All the coursework completed during it is recognised. The partner universities award a full qualification.
