Studying at our faculty
Whether with special designs in glass construction, the multi-award-winning developments of new building materials such as carbon concrete, concrete 3D printing processes or highly regarded experiments in our water construction laboratory: Our faculty enjoys an excellent worldwide Reputation. Excellent research and excellent teaching meet here. For our students, this is a good fact, because they learn from the best and can be part of project work or as a student assistant, in the middle of current cutting-edge research.
Tradition with Diplom
Civil engineers have a long tradition in Dresden. When the Technical Education Institute was founded in 1828 as a forerunner of TU Dresden, Andreas Schubert was already an outstanding civil engineer who not only taught, but also realized himself as an engineer: The first steam locomotive in Germany, He was responsible for steamships and the Göltzschtal Bridge (the largest brick bridge in the world). Civil engineers, Schubert showed more than a hundred years ago, are generalists with special knowledge – and they are now being held at the Faculty of Civil Engineering at TU Dresden by more than 20 professors and about 150 scientific staff at eleven institutes.
Overview of all study opportunities and degrees at our faculty
About 1,600 students are currently studying at our faculty, about 600 of them in distance learning. Unlike other universities, we continue to rely mainly on the proven and globally recognized degree as a graduate engineer, among other degrees and study.
