"Will digitization change everything? Between path dependencies, possible disruptions and illusions "- guest lecture by Dr. habil. Weert Canzler
Mobility transition, networked mobility, automated driving: these have been the buzzwords for the future of mobility for years. With electrification and new mobility offerings based on digitization, new business models are to be created and at the same time the traffic turnaround is to be achieved.
However, from a social science perspective, there are many questions: What assumptions about the future traffic behavior of users are actually based on the hype about networked mobility and automated driving? How strongly does the automotive industry still identify with the racing sedan that has been successful for decades? Which actors on the supplier side are even able to organize “mobility from a single source” beyond private cars and public transport annual tickets? Can the biggest problems in traffic, the climate crisis and the excessive space requirements of motorized individual transport be solved in this way?
Dr. habil. Weert Canzler, social scientist and mobility researcher at the Berlin Social Science Center will give a guest lecture at TUD on November 4, 2021, 5:00 p.m. - 6:30 p.m.
His lecture marks the beginning of the network studio "Mobility and Societal Change" that will take place on the following day. Within the framework of this studio, scientists from the two ExU areas of potential “Societal Change” and “Automated and Networked Mobility” will have the opportunity to exchange ideas, discuss ideas for joint projects and thus contribute to the development of both areas of potential.
