"Office as a place of longing"
Many have recently discovered the advantages of the home office: homely environment, free time management, casual dress and elimination of travel time and more. For many, the question arises: why still go to the office? In the office, many things are much easier, faster, more comfortable and more effective: technical equipment and space,
social contacts and communication, the exchange of information and arguments, working together and developing ideas. The future of work does not lie in production or working through rigid work processes. Whether insurance companies,
banks or the creative industries - it is about innovation, communication, working together to find solutions. And that in groups that are always finding
groups.

Aim of the competition
The student competition VARIO DESIGN COMPETITION serves to promote students of architecture and interior design. The competition gives young designers the opportunity to formulate their ideas and wishes for a future working world and thus to exert a decisive influence. Because in the best case, as has already happened, products are taken over into series production.

Task
How can the office become a place of desire? How, where and with what means do you create places that are highly attractive, that perfectly support those who work, that are effective and efficient? Rooms or places that make it so attractive for employees to spend time there.
employees want to go there at all costs. How do you create a climate that unites the symbiosis of living and working? Which objects are needed for this? Will offices now become kitchen or café landscapes? Will there soon only be sofas and beds everywhere in the offices? Or are atriums and labs moving in everywhere? What are your wishes and ideas for your future work?

But there is also a large field of activity in seemingly small things like: What helps you concentrate on your work? How do you shield yourself visually and aurally?
How do you organise a hybrid video chat? What do I need for agile meetings?
We are looking forward to your questions and answers - whether on big or smaller topics, that is entirely up to you.

Prize money 6,000 EUR

•     Purchases or licensing agreements will be decided on a case-by-case basis.
•     The prize-winning contributions will be implemented by VARIO as prototypes.
