Guest stays: Other European countries
Two documents are required for the approval of planned stays by visiting researchers from EU countries:
- Guest contract
- Evaluation of degrees obtained abroad (equivalence check)
The guest contract regulates the rights and obligations of the visiting researcher during a stay at TU Dresden. This includes, among other things, regulations on the use of facilities and material of the research institution or agreements on teaching assignments.
The equivalence test serves to assess degrees obtained abroad in order to check whether they are recognized in Germany and qualify for the desired activity (also in the context of a guest stay) at TU Dresden.
Guest stays by EU nationals without remuneration at TU Dresden, including:
- visiting researchers of all status groups who wish to come to TU Dresden with a scholarship from outside TU Dresden
- visiting researchers of all status groups who wish to come to TU Dresden with their own funding
- Visiting researchers who come to TU Dresden with a scholarship from TU Dresden (Dresden Fellow). In this case, please contact the coordinator of TUD's own scholarship.
- Visiting researchers who receive a regular employment contract at TU Dresden. In this case, please contact Directorate 2 - Human Resources.
- The visiting researcher contract
Please fill out the fields completely and have the form signed by the visiting researcher and the responsible supervisor (usually the inviting head of institute)! - The evaluation of degrees obtained abroad for the planned activity at TU Dresden carried out as part of the equivalence check. To apply for an equivalence check, please refer to the information on the relevant page.
All forms should preferably be submitted in digital form as pdf files by e-mail!
Please send us the completed forms (guest contract and assessment as part of the equivalence check) and the corresponding proof (scholarship) as a scan. Alternatively, you can send the documents by (in-house) post to the School Administration.
Please check the documents for completeness in advance to avoid delays in the approval process for the guest stay.
As a rule, we need five working days to process the application once the complete documents have been submitted. The processing time may be delayed if the documents are incomplete or incorrectly completed.
Please note that the processing time may be delayed in complicated cases. In this case, you will be informed by e-mail.
Please note: Applications that are to be processed before the end of the year must be submitted exclusively by email no later than seven working days before the start of the shutdown. In the winter semester 2024/25, this deadline is December 11, 2024. Applications that are incomplete or received after December 11, 2024 can only be processed from January 6, 2025!
Please note that the documents required for the approval of guest stays by researchers from EU countries may only be signed by the International Affairs Advisor / Executive Manager for the School. In order to avoid delays in the recruitment process, you should initiate the associated processes described above as early as possible.
If you have any questions, please contact the International Affairs Advisor.
Guest stays: Non-European countries
Three documents are required for the approval of planned stays by visiting researchers from non-EU countries:
- Hosting Agreement
- Host contract
- Evaluation of degrees obtained abroad(equivalence check)
The hosting agreement is a hosting agreement that is concluded between the university and visiting researchers from non-EU countries to enable the latter to conduct research at TU Dresden. This is necessary in order to apply for a visa at the German embassy in the visiting researcher's country of origin or the foreigners authority in Dresden and replaces the (previously necessary) official invitation from the university. Once a hosting agreement has been issued, an official invitation from the university is no longer necessary.
A hosting agreement can only be concluded if the person explicitly wishes to apply for a residence permit for research purposes in accordance with § 18d AufenthG. If another right of residence is sought (e.g. in accordance with Section 16b AufenthG for study purposes or in accordance with Section 21 AufenthG for self-employed activities), different requirements apply in each case.
