Intercomparison of European forest models
Forest models are fundamental to assess and predict impacts of climate change on forest ecosystems. Over the last decades, numerous models have been developed. In a recently published paper in Global Change Biology, 13 state-of-the-art and widely-used European forest stand models have been compared and evaluated against field measurements of forest structure and eddy-covariance data of carbon and water fluxes. The study, which was led by the Ph.D. student Mats Mahnken, provides a point of reference for future model work.
