Research interests
I am strongly interested in plant ecology, ecological questions and the respective conceptual issues. During my studies, I researched the impact of climate change and anthropogenic-induced extreme events, i.e. wild fires, on the germination ecology and the regeneration behavior of grassland and forest ecosystems.
One important aspect of my research interest, which developed while I was working within a local seed producing company, is the practical application of research findings and the inclusion of management concepts, so that the research is equally tangible for practitioners and researchers.
Currently, I focus on observed and potential future impacts of climate change on beech and pine forests in northeastern Germany. More specifically, I study spatio-temporal patterns in climate‑growth relationships, as well as growth responses to extreme events.
