research project "Soil"
Development of high flexible preparation techniques for the production of new and functionalised landfill replacement construction materials
Aim of the project is the development of novel landfill construction materials consisting materials made of sewage sludge, mushroom substrates and excavation materials from mining. This construction material is to be used as material for recultivation layers of landfills. The treatment of sewage sludge can reduce its environmental risk. Substrates of edible mushrooms are added to improve the plant-physiological properties of the recultivation material.
Intended result of the project is an alternative use case for sewage sludge and its products, which will be necessary in the course of the amendment of „Klärschlammverordnung" (German sewage sludge regulation bill). Thus sustainable construction materials can be produced in the sense of circular economy.
