"Christening" of the experimental hall of the Department of Hydrosciences in "Karl-Franz Busch Technikum".
On June 10, 2022, the "christening" of the experimental hall of the Department of Hydrosciences at the TU Dresden in "Karl-Franz Busch Technikum" in the new chemical building 2nd construction phase was solemnly celebrated. In the experimental hall, meso-scale experiments are conducted on various issues of industrial and municipal water management, hydrochemistry, hydrology and groundwater management. Prof. Karl-Franz Busch is considered to be the founder of the then Water Engineering Section, which was completed on 22.10.1968 within the framework of the GDR university reform. With the unification of all water-related scientific disciplines, he succeeded in taking a visionary step at that time, from which today's discipline of hydrosciences still benefits and which often serves as a model for other national and international "water studies".
Prof. Rudolf Liedl, initiator of the naming and former head of the professorship Groundwater Management, gave an introduction to the motivation and the history of the naming. Prof. Christina Dornack, Vice Dean of the Faculty of Environmental Sciences and Head of the Chair of Waste and Recycling Management, classified Karl-Franz-Busch's achievements and unveiled the commemorative plaque. After the toast to this act, Prof. Peter Krebs, Head of the Professorship of Urban Water Management, paid tribute to the person Karl-Franz Busch and his work in a lecture. Finally, the approximately 40 guests were offered the opportunity to visit the pilot plant. Scientists were available at the individual test facilities to provide explanations and answer questions.
