We can protect the climate
In 2018, the National Climate Initiative (NKI) turned ten years old. Since then, more than 11,500 climate protection projects in around 3,000 municipalities have been funded under the municipal guideline alone, all of which contribute to implementing climate protection targets. For example, municipalities are erecting energy-autonomous buildings, setting up competence networks, perfecting energy saving in public buildings or calling on municipalities to take part in electricity saving competitions. This commitment shows that climate protection must not just be negotiated, but implemented and lived.
To make this commitment visible, the Service and Competence Center: Municipal Climate Protection (SK:KK) conducted a total of 20 action days in 20 municipalities in the spring, summer and fall of 2018 on behalf of the German Federal Ministry for the Environment, Nature Conservation, Building and Nuclear Safety (BMUB). And Pirna was among them!
After a successful open day at our institute in May 2018, the Institute for Waste and Recycling Management participated in the Pirna action day "We can protect the climate" on October 06, 2018.
In addition to information on the topic of domestic waste, there were also activities to participate in at our booth, in which interested citizens could show how much knowledge they have on the topic of waste management.
