Project "bikeSim" nearing completion
The official project closing for the "bikeSim" project will take place on May 20, 2021. Due to the current situation, the event will be held as an online event. The project "bikeSim" was funded with a total of 85,000 euros by the Federal Ministry of Transport and Digital Infrastructure as part of the innovation initiative mFUND.
The final project meeting will officially mark the end of the project, which was carried out from November 1, 2019 to April 30, 2021. In the project, transport and traffic scientists from TU Dresden developed the web application "bikeSim" together with the Dresden-based start-up Cyface. It can be used to perform simulations of bicycle traffic . The application is based on open data and is intended to support municipalities in cycling planning.
Further information on the feasibility study can be found at
- the project page of the mFUND or

The research work is to be continued in subsequent R&D projects. The aim is to expand the web application, to make the approach transferable throughout Germany, and to further assure the quality of the results in cooperation with cities and municipalities.
