Doctoral studies
Every doctoral candidate is free to enrol for a limited period of time in accordance with § 16 of the Matriculation Regulations for the period of writing a doctoral thesis. Upon enrolment, you acquire the status of a doctoral student and are obliged to re-register for each semester by transferring the semester fee. Like all other students, you will then receive a student ID card with a semester ticket.
Please note that enrolment is voluntary and is not a prerequisite for doctoral studies. Enrolment only takes place if the applicant has been formally admitted to doctoral studies in accordance with the relevant doctoral regulations and has been included as a doctoral candidate in the faculty's list of doctoral candidates.
The application for enrollment as a doctoral student is subject to certain deadlines and must be applied for formally (online). Confirmation of acceptance as a doctoral candidate (letter from the doctoral committee) is required.
