- Workshops
Fancy some practical lessons? Then come and visit us at the Friedrich List Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences with your class, course or afternoon group. Scientists from various teams have prepared exciting workshops on topical issues relating to transport and mobility - with insights into modern research laboratories on top.- Mobility of the future = sustainable mobility! How transport engineers and transport managers contribute to climate protection (topic: transport planning)
- All electricity, right? What will power vehicles in the future - and what might not. (Topic: electromobility/transport turnaround)
- Don't be afraid of big data. How big data supports safe, demand-oriented and sustainable bicycle traffic planning. (Topic: IT and transportation)
- Data as a raw material of the 21st century: Fields of application of big data and AI in transport planning (Topic: Computer science, programming and big data analysis)
- Are you still playing or already researching? Traffic simulation between gaming and science (automation and IT)
- Can we protect the climate by traveling by bus and train? And why do railroads also have roads? (Topic: Climate, transport transition and railroads)
- What do the energy and mobility transition have to do with real life? (Topic: Climate/transport transition)
- "Engineering studies for girls: That's not a contradiction! - We test technical skills in the flight simulator" (Topic: Aviation & Logistics)
- School groups have the opportunity to visit laboratories at the Faculty of Transport Sciences. Visits to the Friedrich List Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences
- High school students in grades 9 and 10 can work on a small transport-related project during a school internship with us and get to know the working methods at a research institute.
- Are you looking for a scientist to supervise your special or complex learning achievement(BELL, KOLL)? Get in touch with us!
- Do you have an idea for a transport-related research topic and would like to take part in a science competition (e.g. "Jugend forscht"), but still need a scientific supervisor? We will be happy to support you.

Fixed dates throughout the year
UNITAG
Every year on a Saturday in May/June, TU Dresden presents its full range of degree programs. Lectures provide detailed information about the degree programs and their contents; prospective students can talk to students and staff of the faculties and get advice. The Friedrich List Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences will offer introductory lectures on the degree programs and various areas of transport sciences. Laboratory facilities can be visited on the University Day.
UNI LIVE
Students can experience a day at the university, attend lectures, listen to special presentations, visit various laboratories of the faculty (e.g. the railroad operations laboratory, the flight simulator, etc.), ask our students questions and eat in the canteen.
Uni Live always takes place on a Thursday in the first half of January.
Dresden Science Night
Every year in summer (June/July), numerous TU Dresden laboratories and facilities open their doors, along with many other research institutions and companies in the city - including the Friedrich List Faculty of Transport and Traffic Sciences! We welcome you with a varied program of experiments, demonstrations, lectures and hands-on activities.
You can find more information here.
Career Day at the Dresden Transport Museum
Every year on the first Saturday in November, the Transport Museum in Dresden hosts a careers day. From 10 a.m. to 4 p.m., educational institutions and companies from the (transport) technology sector present their training opportunities. The faculty will also be on site with its degree programs.
Girls' Day
Do girls also study with you?
Yes, around a quarter of our students are female - but we'd like to see many more!
Use this day to get to know and experience everyday research in the field of transport and mobility at our faculty.
SCHAU REIN! - Week of open companies in Saxony
The SCHAU REIN! format also gives pupils the opportunity to get a taste of careers and study subjects every spring. In hands-on workshops, you can get an idea of what it's like to study transportation at university from year 7 onwards. Find out how we contribute to the sustainable development of transport and infrastructure systems in order to meet society's growing mobility needs.
DLR School Lab
At the DLR_School_LAB , scientists from TU Dresden and the German Aerospace Center (DLR) conduct research to answer the energy and mobility questions of the future. Pupils can become young researchers themselves in the DLR_School_Lab and carry out exciting experiments. Grade level: 9th to 12th grade
To the website of the offer.
Summer University
The TU Dresden Summer University gives prospective students of mathematics, computer science, natural sciencesand technology(STEM) the opportunity to experience student life for a week. It gives them an insight into studying, researching and working in the STEM departments at the science location Dresden.
Year-round offers for young and old
For parents, teachers, companions and for you! There is a lot to discover on our information and orientation platforms JuniorCampus (1st to 8th grade) and Uni testen (from grade 8). A wide range of events are offered throughout the year for pupils to get an impression of TU Dresden long before they start their studies.
Expedition Campus is primarily aimed at pupils in the 9th to 12th or 13th grade and is intended to support career orientation. Pupils can get a taste of campus life and get to know the university's study programs.
Secondary school pupils can enrol as early students at TU Dresden, attend lectures on their future course of study and take exams early. The prerequisite for this is that your school approves of this on the basis of very good performance.
Media insights into our faculty
In the "Sitzgelegenheit" format, students from our faculty are asked interesting and sometimes piquant questions from the TUD community. Why is Deutsche Bahn always late? What is your favorite means of transport and what do you think transport will look like in the future?
Excitement in the railroad laboratory: Victor is in his 3rd semester of Transport Engineering at TU Dresden. He has been interested in railroads since he was a child, which is why he decided to study. ARD alpha Uni accompanied him during a simulation exercise in the railroad laboratory.
Interview with a MINT scholarship holder (2nd semester)
Malvine Barchfeld has been studying Transport Engineering in Dresden since the winter semester 2022/23. The 20-year-old from near Mannheim is a STEM scholarship holder at TU Dresden. In an interview for "Verkehrslage", she explains what brought her to Dresden and what small hurdles and surprises her start to her studies entailed. Continue to the interview
