The chair

Since 1996 Mr Professor Dr. Thomas Guenther holds the Chair of Managerial Accounting and Control at the Department of Business and Economics. Four research associates currently help Mr Professor Guenther in all of his activities. Our primary goal is to combine scientific theory and practical application.

Studies

Our extensive teaching programme encompasses a broad range of courses in the field of Accounting and Finance. Our courses are aligned to the specific knowledge of Bachelor-, Master- and Diplomastudents. We also supervise project paper in WPA-, Bachelor- and Masterseminars.

Research foci

Our interdisciplinary research lay on shareholder value management and the design of management accounting/control, respectively. Study results are published in international journals, e. g., B. Management Accounting Research, Organizational Research Methods or Journal of Business Ethics.

Cooperation

Since 2004 Mr Prof. Thomas Guenther is a member of the executive board of Schmalenbach-Gesellschaft (a german NPO). The workingroup aims to develop shareholder-value oriented concepts for the management of small and medium sized enterprises that should link scientific methods with organizational practice.
