How can companies successfully meet the challenges of the demographic development (particularly ageing workforces, lack of experts)? How can innovation potentials of young and, in particular, older employees be systematically opened up and deployed to inc
The project aims to develop, implement and evaluate the learning module „ReLEGO³", which deploys the LEGO Serious Play (LSP) method to reify complex issues. This method focuses on the students’ active learning techniques. The project example „Location decision of an international automotive supplier“ illustrates the importance of shared ideas concerning, for example, project management, team work and management.
The key idea of LEGO Serious Play is to use Lego building blocks in order to represent metaphors (contents are visualized through Lego blocks). Moreover, Lego blocks facilitate the mutual explanation of personal and later joint models as well as the simulation of decisions in a complex system of metaphors or a model landscape (illustration of scenarios, events). The general structure of the workshops enables all participants to express their views by using the neutral medium of metaphors. Thus it is possible to also address critical aspects of a problem and to visualize them in a three-dimensional way. The modular structure of the used materials further allows to put together individual aspects of a problem to an overall group view thus considering different experience, opinions and backgrounds. A modification of the initial models over time (e.g. to integrate new insights, different technical perspectives etc.) is easily possible as well. Thus, a joint understanding is developed in the form of a physical model.
