Review of the inaugural lectures and award ceremonies on Faculty Day
On our Faculty Day on June 5, 2024, we welcomed many current and former faculty members and guests to the packed lecture hall HÜL S 386. The first part of the event was dedicated to the inaugural lectures by Prof. Dr. Lars Hornuf and Prof. Dr. Peter Schäfer. Prof. Dr. Lars Hornuf has held the Chair of Business Administration, esp. Finance and Financial Technology, since March 1, 2023. In his lecture, he presented a current research project that deals with the use of generative AI in the financial sector. In his inaugural lecture, Prof. Dr. Peter Schäfer showed how accounting and emotions are connected. He has held the Chair of Business Administration, esp. Management Accounting and Control, since July 1, 2023.
The inaugural lectures were followed by the presentation of faculty awards. Prof. Dr. Oliver Krancher from IT University Copenhagen was honoured as one of a total of four Distinguished Research Fellows 2024. The Dr. Feldbausch Prize for outstanding dissertations was awarded to Jun. Prof. Dr. Jantke de Boer and Dr. Enrico Haase. Jantke de Boer's dissertation on "Essays on Exchange Rates" was supervised by Prof. Dr. Stefan Eichler. Enrico Haase wrote his dissertation "Advanced Methods on the Role of Sustainability in Politics and Economics" under Prof. Dr. Remmer Sassen.
The Dr. Händel Award supports projects that contribute to initiating and strengthening the faculty's international contacts. This year, Jun. Prof. Dr. Samanthi Dijkstra-Silva (Junior Professorship in Sustainability Assessment and Policy) and Jun. Prof. Dr. Valentin Lindlacher (Junior Professorship in Economics, esp. International Economic Policy) can look forward to receiving funding for their projects. Samanthi Dijkstra-Silva received the award for a research stay at the Copenhagen Business School, while Valentin Lindlacher is already using the funding for a research stay at Brown University.
The faculty day was toppedoff with a coffee break and a champagne reception as well as a faculty party, which followed the graduation ceremony in the Heinz-Schönfeld lecture hall in the evening.
