This page describes the structure and content of the Bachelor's in Business Administration and Economics as offered to new students from the winter semester of 2024/25 onwards.

Structure and Course of Study
The Bachelor's degree program in Business Administration and Economics has a total workload of 180 credit points (CP). For full-time study, the standard study period is 6 semesters. Flexible part-time study is equally possible. Please find out more on our website Part-Time Study.
The Bachelor of Business Administration and Economics comprises three sections:
- the compulsory area addressing the discipline's basics,
- followed by the elective area with numerous options for specialization,
- and the Bachelor's Thesis.
Compulsory Area
The compulsory area of 90 CP comprises the first three semesters. It endows you with introductory knowledge in the fields
- Business Administration and Economics,
- Business Information Systems,
- Methods and Procedures, and
- General Qualifications.

Elective Area
The elective area of 80 CP covers the 4th to 6th semester. It offers ample opportunities to deepen and specialize. You can choose from modules in the following fields, only having to adhere to the respective point limits:
- at least 50 CP in Business Administration and Economics,
- at least 5 CP in Methods and Procedures,
- at least 5 CP in Presenting and Discussing, and
- at most 20 CP in Supplementary Qualifications.
The fields, in particular Business Administration and Economics, contain various profiles for further specialization. Consider the website Elective Area to find out which modules and profiles are available and how to select them.
Studying electives is possible once you have passed the Core Compulsory Modules.
Bachelor's Thesis
With the Bachelor's Thesis, you demonstrate your skills in presenting and analyzing an economic problem in a scientific manner. The Bachelor's Thesis takes nine weeks and earns 10 CP. It typically marks the end of your studies.
To start with the Bachelor's Thesis, you must have passed all compulsory modules and have acquired at least 40 CP in the elective area, including at least 5 CP from the field Presenting and Discussing. Also, you must begin no later than the semester after completing the last module.
The Chairs of the Faculty have different regulations on topic assignment, registration and (formal) requirements for the thesis. Please inform yourself on our website Theses at the Chair of your choice!
