Dirk Brockmann Appointed to the Advisory Board of the Deutsches Hygiene Museum Dresden

Prof. Dirk Brockmann, Director of the Center Synergy of Systems (SynoSys) and Professor of Biology of Complex Systems, has been appointed to the Advisory Board of the Deutsches Hygiene Museum Dresden. His term began on April 1, 2026, and runs until December 31, 2027.
The Advisory Board, which brings together representatives from academia, culture, and society, provides expert advice to the museum’s Executive Board and Board of Trustees. This year’s meeting took place on May 29.
The Deutsches Hygiene Museum Dresden sees itself as a forum for science, culture, and society. Its work focuses on questions of how people want to live together in the future and how societal transformation can be shaped. Topics such as the body, health, the environment, science, and democracy are explored from interdisciplinary perspectives and made accessible to a broad public audience.
With Dirk Brockmann, the Advisory Board gains a scientist who has spent many years studying complex societal dynamics while also developing innovative approaches to science communication. His research focuses on complex systems and their relevance to societal challenges, including health, mobility, and digital connectivity.
Brockmann has also gained international recognition through innovative science communication formats such as the Complexity Explorables, which make scientific concepts accessible through interactive and intuitive experiences. For his work at the intersection of research, public engagement, and digital science communication, he has received numerous awards.
Dirk Brockmann emphasizes: “Scientific knowledge should not remain confined to academic research but should also have an impact on society.
