Simulations are frequently used in biology to uncover which fundamental processes can explain certain observations. For example, simulations have shown that even simple rules between close neighbors are sufficient to understand the complex behavior of fish schools or bird flocks. In his lecture, Dr. Pascal Klamser presents various methods used to simulate the growth of filamentous fungi and the questions explored through these approaches. He offers insights into the model he and his colleagues developed to investigate how fungi coordinate and communicate with one another.
