Work Packages: How the Project is Organised
AIMS is organised into five interlinked work packages. Project management (WP1) provides the overall framework. The technical development of the AI Mentor (WP2), including an ethical review framework, data protection guidelines and tests with real users, and the gender-sensitive pedagogical development of the MOOC and e-course (WP3) inform each other. Quality assurance (WP4) and dissemination (WP5) accompany the project from start to finish.
WP1: Project Management | Lead: TU Dresden Coordination, time and budget management, risk management and quality monitoring throughout the project. A Joint Steering Committee and a Quality Assurance Board ensure transparent decisions and reliable implementation.
WP2: Development 1: AI Mentor | Lead: TU Dresden (architecture: University of Graz; ethics and data protection: METU) The technical core: system architecture and pedagogical concept, ethical review framework and data protection guidelines, software development (NLP, machine learning), avatar development, LMS integration, and beta and field tests with real users.
WP3: Development 2: MOOC and E-Course | Lead: University of Graz A MOOC that prepares female students for learning with AI and the AI Mentor, and an e-course that supports university teachers in working with it from a gender-sensitive perspective. Both will be made available in SCORM-compatible format via the Erasmus+ Project Results Platform.
WP4: Quality Assurance | Lead: TU Dresden (final testing: University of Graz) A Quality Assurance Board of internal and external experts oversees all outputs. Standardised review processes, regular monitoring reports and empirical evaluation (including focus groups, interviews and screencast analyses) ensure their quality.
WP5: Dissemination | Lead: METU (final conferences: University of Graz) Making AIMS visible during the project and ensuring its impact beyond it: website and social media, information materials, academic exchange at conferences, final conferences and a sustainability plan.
Results and Materials: What AIMS Develops
AIMS develops open, reusable results. As soon as they are available, you will find them here and on the Erasmus+ Project Results Platform.
- AI Mentor. An adaptive AI Mentor in the form of a human-like avatar, designed for integration into learning platforms such as Moodle.
- MOOC for female students. An open online course that prepares students for learning with AI and the AI Mentor in STEAM.
- E-course for university teachers. A course on inclusive, gender-sensitive teaching and working with the AI Mentor.
- Open Educational Resources. Freely accessible materials, guides and training resources.
- Policy Briefs and Recommendations. Recommendations for universities and education policymakers on AI-supported, gender-sensitive mentoring.
- Research and Publications. Doctoral theses, a habilitation thesis and academic publications on AI-based mentoring and learning with AI in higher education.
