The availability, integrity, authenticity and confidentiality of data, both in research and teaching and in administration, have become existential issues of the 21st century, and our university is no exception. The guarantee of information security, the protection of personal data and all relevant information is one of the central challenges for Technische Universität Dresden. Information security is a core requirement for all business processes. The aim is to ensure that technical, organizational, personnel and infrastructural risks with regard to information and its processing are reduced to a tolerable level while complying with the relevant statutory and legal provisions. Risks arise, among other things, from the increasing dependence on information infrastructures as well as their networking and interdependence and the growing degree of mobility in their use. Data protection involves data that is personal or personally identifiable.
Protecting knowledge and innovation is one of the prerequisites for successful cutting-edge research and effective management.
The Rectorate is therefore supported in fulfilling its responsibilities by the Information Security Officer and, in the case of personal data, by the Data Protection Officer. The Information Security Officer and Data Protection Officer and the Data Protection Officer are therefore organisationally combined in the Information Security and Data Protection Team. Both officers report to the CDIO of TU Dresden. They are independent and not bound by instructions in the fulfilment of their tasks.
