AVILAB2: Connection of a Virtual-Immersive 3D Learning Platform to the NBP using the Domain Example of an Educational Institution
Educational offerings - such as lectures, courses, or specialist conferences - are increasingly taking place in hybrid or virtual spaces. In contrast to conventional video conferencing tools, immersive media technologies such as virtual reality (VR) offer the possibility of preserving the spatial-situational character of educational processes. To develop didactic scenarios for such virtual learning worlds and to empirically substantiate conditions for success concerning their design, implementation, and use, various application scenarios are being developed and tested in the "AVILAB2" project in the field of higher education. These include virtual seminars, virtual laboratories, digital twins and simulations, and virtual subject conferences. One focus here is on the social integration of learners. The technical implementation is carried out using the VR software „TriCAT
spaces“. The use cases designed and evaluated for this purpose simultaneously underpin the connection of the 3D world to "Mein Bildungsraum (MB)". MB enables teachers and learners to move seamlessly through existing and new educational offerings and forms of education and to use them in digitally supported learning spaces. In doing so, learners should be able to manage their data in a sovereign and self-determined manner and make it available as needed. The insights gained in the project will be abstracted and thus made transferable to other educational areas such as vocational training and continuing education.

The project is aimed at three target groups. It addresses university lecturers who want to or have to shift their courses more strongly into the virtual space and their learners who participate in hybrid or virtual courses. The third target group consists of participants in academic courses - especially scientists - which are also increasingly being designed as hybrid courses or are being moved completely into the virtual space.
