Hy-PER
Hy-PER strengthens international doctoral education through innovative hybrid teaching and learning formats. The project focuses on collaboration between TUD Dresden University of Technology and EPOKA University (Albania) to expand academic partnerships, promote teaching competencies, and integrate doctoral students into international research networks in a sustainable manner. The project is funded as part of the DAAD’s “University Dialogue with the Western Balkan Countries” program.
By combining virtual and in-person formats, the project creates sustainable structures for international cooperation in research and teaching. Hy-PER combines capacity building, digital higher education development, and the promotion of early-career researchers with a strong focus on openness, international networking, and practice-oriented learning.
Hy-PER aims to
- expand international cooperation between TU Dresden and EPOKA University over the long term
- to sustainably establish hybrid teaching and learning formats as well as Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL) at both universities
- further develop the academic and pedagogical competencies of faculty and doctoral candidates
- to provide Open Educational Resources (OER) for hybrid doctoral programs, and
- strengthen academic exchange between Germany and the countries of the Western Balkans
At the heart of the project is a multi-tiered hybrid learning architecture that combines digital and international collaboration.
Key activities include
- Training sessions for EPOKA University faculty on hybrid teaching formats and COIL
- an international hybrid summer school at TU Dresden
- Virtual preparation and follow-up phases for collaborative project work
- Residency fellowships for doctoral students at EPOKA University
- the development of freely available OER materials
- the joint creation of a multilingual policy brief with recommendations for hybrid doctoral programs for doctoral students
The project is aimed at:
- doctoral students,
- university faculty,
- researchers,
- university administrators, and
- international partner institutions,
who wish to develop innovative forms of hybrid academic collaboration and embed them sustainably within their institutions.
