Kraft-Copilot: Invisible needs
Since the outbreak of the Corona pandemic, we have encountered reports in the media almost daily about the severe overwork, physical strain, and low pay of nursing staff. These primarily highlight the difficult working conditions of nursing staff in hospitals and inpatient facilities.
According to the German Federal Statistical Office, there are currently around 4.96 million people in need of care in Germany, of whom around 63% are mainly cared for by relatives at home (Destatis, 2023). Family caregivers thus provide the majority of care - they are the "nation's largest care service". Their work may be less visible to the public, but it is no less strenuous and stressful for the caregivers. Young people in particular, who take care of their relatives as a matter of course, are exposed to a special burden and often remain hidden with their worries and needs.
"Kraft-Copilot" aims to help those who are invisible to society and politics. We want to work with young adult caregivers to develop a platform that promotes self-care and well-being and supports them in their challenging caregiving roles. Are you a young adult carer? Then we invite you to share your experiences and ideas with us. Follow us on Instagram!
