Online Self Assessment
Would you like to know whether you are suitable for an engineering degree at the TU Dresden? We support your choice of course!
As part of the study success project "Online self-assessments for prospective students in engineering (OSA 3.0)", a web-based self-assessment test is developed. It aims at supporting you in your directed examination of engineering courses at TU Dresden. By solving tasks and answering questions, you can find out whether your personal skills, interests and expectations match the requirements and actual content of the degree programs. You find more information about the project below:
About "OSA 3.0"
The project "Online self-assessments for prospective students in engineering (OSA 3.0)" is funded by the Higher Education Pact. The project runs until December 31, 2021.
The aim of the project is the development of a computer-based self-assessment test in connection with a study orientation module for prospective and new students of the engineering courses at the TU Dresden.
Background
The project "Online self-assessments for prospective students in engineering (OSA 3.0)" is part of the study success concept of the TU Dresden.
Vision
The blended learning service promotes a directed examination of the engineering courses at the beginning of or even before the studies. By the self-directed handling of tasks and questions, students can find out whether their individual competencies, interests and expectations match the requirements and actual content of the desired course.
The OSA encourages a conscious decision to choose a course of study at an early stage and helps to avoid being confronted with false expectations and unknown requirements in order to counteract later dropouts. The developed method supplements existing information and advice services. In the long term, a transfer to other courses is intended.
Result
The result of the pilot project is an online self-test for engineering courses at TU Dresden. The OSA test was realized with the help of the Onyx test suite from BPS Bildungsportal Sachsen GmbH and will be available on the OPAL learning platform.
Team
The project team is composed of employees from the following institutions:
The Faculty of Electrical Engineering and Information Technology is primarily responsible for the selection and preparation of the subject matter.
Prof. Dr. Gerald Gerlach
The Media Centre is mainly responsible for the development of the didactic design and the technical implementation of the service.
Prof. Dr. Thomas Koehler
The professorship for work and organizational psychology is responsible for the development of the study orientation module as well as the creation of a requirement profile for the pilot module engineering.
Prof. Dr. Petra Kemter-Hofmann
