SPEZZI - Student participation through episodic short-term participation for sustainable innovation in university development
The aim of the research project is to analyze and further develop new forms of student participation in the academic and university context. The focus is on so-called episodic short-term participation - flexible, low-threshold participation formats that enable students to get actively involved even when time is at a premium.
Against the backdrop of an increasingly heterogeneous student body and the growing demands of studying, working and care work, the project investigates the conditions under which such flexible forms of participation arise, what effects they have and how they can be sustainably integrated into university structures. A particular focus is on technically supported, hybrid formats that enable participation independent of time and place and open up new spaces for democratic participation.
The project pursues a transdisciplinary and participatory approach in which students and other university stakeholders are actively involved in all project phases as co-researchers, co-designers and co-reflectors. This not only produces scientific findings, but also concrete, practical solutions. These include prototypical participation formats and an application-oriented toolkit for designing participatory structures in the university context.
