Family festival

A celebration for everyone who loves family.

Full courtyards, beaming faces and a campus full of life: On 11 September, around 500 guests young and old celebrated the second TUD Family Festival in the courtyard of the Fritz Foerster Building - organized by Unit Diversity Management.

The colorful program had something for everyone: From the robot dog SPOT and the quantum computer Quarks to the gaming lounge "Cat Q " - science could be experienced in a playful way. The band "Zugabe", the hands-on circus "Chaos" and the TUD's children's and youth dance studio ensured a good atmosphere.

There was no shortage of exercise either: the University Sports Center brought along sports and play equipment, while the company fire department invited visitors to try their hand at target spraying - including a look inside the fire engine.

The campus tours for young and old were a special highlight: while children explored sculptures, murals and magical creatures on animal discovery tours of the grounds, adults immersed themselves in the construction history and varied use of the buildings on a historical tour.

The afternoon was rounded off with a clothes swap, craft station, wheel of fortune and information stands. "We are delighted with the successful family festival - the great response shows how important such events are for the cohesion and visibility of families on campus. It was great to see how employees, students and their families filled everyday life at TUD with life, laughter and curiosity," says Franziska Schneider, Family Friendliness Coordinator. Special thanks go to all the helpers - and to the REWE Team Challenge prize money that made this day possible.
