Open Access
The TU Dresden is strongly supporting free, worldwide access to scientific information and the publication of the research results of its scientists in Open Access format. Together with the SLUB, an Open Access infrastructure has been established. It includes consulting services, legal rights audits, the document and publication server Qucosa, and an Open Access publication fund.
Open Access at TU Dresden
Open Access is the free and global access to scientific publications on the internet – without any financial, legal or technical barriers. TU Dresden strongly supports Open Access publishing and, in 2012, has approved an Open Access Resolution. The proportion of Open Access publications by TU Dresden's scientists is growing steadily.
Jointly with the Saxon State and University Library Dresden (SLUB), TU Dresden actively promotes Open Access publishing, by providing numerous offers and maintaining a powerful Open Access infrastructure. The staff at SLUB's Open Access service support scientists at TU Dresden through various advisory services and verification of copyrights in the publication process. TU Dresden’s Project Scouts and the European Project Center offer advice regarding financing opportunities for Open Access publications during the application for third-party funded projects.
We also promote Open Access publishing for our scientists via a central Publication Fund, which – under certain conditions – covers the article processing charges (APC) for the open access publication in scientific, quality-assured OA-only journals
With Qucosa, the Saxon Document and Publication Server, SLUB and TU Dresden provide an infrastructure for Open Access publishing, ensuring global availability of full texts and long-term archiving of publications.
