Open Access Resolution
Technische Universität Dresden supports the global call for Open Access to scientific publications, documented in the "Berlin Declaration on Open Access to Knowledge in the Sciences and Humanities".
Open Access follows the principle of equal participation for all people in scientific advancement. Open Access publications demonstrably gain a particularly high degree of visibility and reach. Therefore, publishing scientists can also benefit. Reasons for Open Access and arguments against frequently voiced reservations have been compiled on the Information Platform Open Access, which is promoted by the German science organisations.
In the spirit of the "Berlin Declaration", TU Dresden's Rector and Senate have adopted the following Open Access Resolution, in 2012:
1. We recommend scientists at the university to place their primary publication in peer-reviewed Open Access journals. To this end, a central fund has been set up in financing the article processing charges respectively publication fee of corresponding authors at TUD, please complete the application form. The publication fund is handled non-bureaucratically and transparently by the SLUB, on behalf of the executive board of TU Dresden.
2. We would like to urge scientists at the university to store all scientific publications on the document and publication server Qucosa, insofar as rights of use by publishing houses do not preclude such publications. Nowadays, many publishing houses permit such self-archiving. We recommend keeping relevant rights of exploitation when negotiating publishing contracts. The Saxon State and University Library Dresden (SLUB) will be glad to assist you with archiving your documents.
For questions and suggestions concerning Open Access, please contact the SLUB or the Vice-Rector for Research who also holds the position of the Open Access Officer at TU Dresden.
