Selection results: Funding of actions of strategic significance
In May 2016 the Vice-Rector for Research confirmed the funding for first actions of strategic significance to increase TU Dresden’s third-party funding in EU programmes.
In the latest TUD internal call with deadline 15 April 2016 in total three proposals were submitted.
Two proposals were submitted by scientists from the School of Civil and Environmental Engineering: By creating and implementing new concepts in the field of automotive technology, TU Dresden is supposed to gain influence at European level. These actions shall affect future calls and increase TU Dresden’s funding rate in Horizon 2020.
In the field of forestry technology a cross-sectoral European network should be developed to connect European, national and local activities that focus on the supply of biomass.
The proposal, which was submitted by scientists from the School of Humanities and Social Sciences, deals with targeted lobbying and participation in renowned expert groups in the fields of telemedicine and e-health.
All submitted projects of the first call in 2016 were selected for funding, although in some cases small improvements were made. The first action will start in June 2016.
As part of its internal incentive system the TU Dresden supports its scientists to position itself strategically in the funding period 2014-2020 by five activities per year and a lump sum of up to 20,000 euros. There are two annual calls. The calls invite applications for actions in the field of targeted lobbying that aims on the proactive placing of topics resp. interests of future TUD activities at European level. These actions are supposed to increase TU Dresden's level of participation and eligibility for third-party funding in EU programmes in the medium- and long-term. The topic of first call in 2016 was not specified. The thematic focus of the second call with deadline 30 Sept 2016 will be defined by the University board soon.
