PhD Scholarship Program
Directive of the Saxon State Ministry for Higher Education, Research and the Arts (SMWK) for European Social Fund Plus cofinanced projects in the area of Higher Education and Research (Directive ESF Plus Higher Education and Research 2021-2027), dated
September 1st, 2022.
The aim of the funding program is to exploit the individual educational potential of academic specialists, especially women, by expanding their skills with regard to a stable, green, sustainable and digital economy in the Free State of Saxony. Academic specialists are to gain improved entry opportunities into Saxony's science and industry through qualification within the framework of a doctorate. Funding is provided for projects aimed at qualifying young academics through research work as part of doctorates.
The following forms of doctorate can be funded:
- Federal innovation doctorates
- Industry-sponsored doctorates
- Doctorates improving the reconcilability of scientific career and family
- Combination of industry-sponsored doctorate and doctorate improving the reconcilability of scientific career and family
Method of funding:
- monthly scholarship rate of max. 1,700.00 EUR and, if applicable, monthly family allowance of 100.00 EUR for each dependent child
Funding period:
- up to a period of four years
Applications are submitted via the Graduate Academy. Further information on funding conditions, application procedures and application deadlines for the current funding period (2021-2027) can be found on the Graduate Academy's website.
